Boxes filled with more than US$2 million in cash spilled out of an armoured van onto a major Hong Kong street on Wednesday (24 December 2014), sparking a frenzy as drivers and passers-by tried to get their hands on the notes. Traffic ground to a halt on Gloucester Road in central Hong Kong as taxi drivers rushed out of their cars to make a grab for the hundreds of banknotes scattered over the busy multi-lane highway. TV footage showed pedestrians dashing in from the sidewalk to join in the Christmas Eve melee. Police, some of them armed with armed with shotguns, helmets and bulletproof vests, rushed to the scene to secure the area. More than HK$15.23 million (US$1.96 million) spilled onto the road, police said. It was not clear how much officers managed to retrieve and how much had been pocketed by members of the public."Any person who finds the relevant bank notes should return them to police as soon as possible, or they may be committing a theft," police warned in a statement. Police superintendent Wan Siu-hung said the driver of the van made it all the way to his destination, a half-hour's drive away, oblivious to the fact that his back door was open and the cash boxes had fallen out."When it (the van) arrived at its destination they discovered that the door was open," Wan told reporters, adding that police would use the serial numbers of the bills to conduct an investigation. أثار شاب خليجيٌّ الجدل على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي بعد أن ظهر في فيديو انتشر على نطاق واسع، السبت 6 أغسطس/آب 2022، وهو يلقي بالنقود في الهواء وعلى الأرض بأحد شوارع الأردن.
وسائل إعلام محلية قالت إن الشباب الذي ينحدر من الكويت أطل من مركبة تحمل ترقيماً كويتياً في شارع الدفاع المدني بمحافظة إربد، وبدأ بقذف النقود على المارة.
بينما أغلقت مركبته شارعاً رئيسياً في إربد؛ ما تسبب بإعاقة حركة المركبات، فيما تدافع الشباب أمام المركبات لالتقاط النقود التي رمى بها الشاب في الهواء.
كما أشارت وسائل الإعلام الأردنية إلى أن الشاب الذي ظهر بلباس خليجي مرتدياً روب التخرج الجامعي، على ما يبدو كان يعبر عن فرحته بالتخرج وأراد الاحتفال بهذه الطريقة الغريبة.
فيما قالت إن قانون السير الأردني يعاقب على مثل هذه الأفعال، ومن ضمن العقوبات حجز المركبة وتحويل السائق الى المحكمة بتهمة تعريض الآخرين للخطر وإرباك حركة المرور والوقوف على مركبة في وسط شارع عام.
تصرف الشاب الكويتي أثار كثيراً من الجدل على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، خاصة في الأردن، حيث استهجن البعض الطريقة التي احتفل بها بمناسبة تخرجه والتي اعتبرها البعض “مبالغاً فيها”، بينما قال آخرون إنها تسيء إلى الأردن وطالبوا بمحاسبته على فعلته.
فيما حاول البعض على مواقع التواصل تبرير ما فعله خريج الجامعة الجديد احتفالاً بنجاحه، واعتبروا أن ما قام به قد يفعله أي شاب آخر مهما كانت جنسيته.
